Most ski weeks are planned entirely around the mountain and not at all around what six consecutive days of it does to a body. By Thursday, a proper spa or a decent pool makes considerably more difference than one more run — which is why we weigh the property as heavily as the resort.
"Ski-in, ski-out" is also used very loosely. We look at where a property genuinely sits relative to the lifts, because ten minutes in ski boots twice a day is the difference between an easy week and a tiring one. And a mixed-ability group needs a large linked area rather than a compromise on one set of runs.
